Health Literacy: How will you participate?
October 3, 2007
October is National Health Literacy Month which is described as “a time when…the world…promotes the importance of understandable health information.”
There are three ways you can participate:
1. One on one tutor sessions:
Tutors, please use your class time to talk about the health of your student and their family.
Tell your student that this is health literacy month. Explain what that means.
*Does she need to do computer research on how to help her child’s asthma?
*Does he need to find and get help reading recipes for nutritious meals for his family?
*Does she need help reading her prescription, or health insurance claim?
2. Blog about it!
Shae your discussion with us!

3. Attend our Health Fair
In honor of Health Literacy Month, DLC is partnering with Yoga for Youth in a FREE Community Health Fair Extravaganza. Please join us in learning about health from prevention to care with interactive workshops, informational tables, a panel of diverse speakers and free healthy food!
