Tutoring with Ruby

October 30, 2007

Hi all,

This is my first blog. I’ve been tutoring Ruby for about a month now; things are going really well. She’s very inspired to learn on her own, and we enjoy talking with one another and having tutoring sessions. As far as my strategy goes, I have found that it’s important to play around with different things, because it’s easy to get frustrated or bored. So today I was working on teaching her the idea of sound, without connecting sounds to letters, by asking her to tell me the first sound in a word that I would say. She slowly started to pick up on it, and we had a blast. I hope all is going well for the rest of you.
