Durham Literacy Center (DLC) is a literacy center located in Durham, North Carolina. The mission of DLC is to empower Durham County residents who want to enrich their lives by improving their literacy skills.

The Adult Literacy (AL) program at DLC matches trained volunteer tutors with adult students who read between a 0-8th grade reading level. The AL pairs use a phonics based system to improve the students’ reading and writing levels. AL students have a variety of goals such as learning to read for the first time, taking an active role in their child’s education, getting a better job, etc.
